In fact, the ads were so popular they even attracted the attention of famed director Shekhar Kapur. Entranced by Preity-s presence, Kapur decided to cast her as the lead in his next film, Tara Rum Pum Pum. Although the movie never got made, Kapur-s interest in Preity created a buzz throughout the industry and she soon made her acting debut in 1998-s Dil Se. Preity-s performance was a hit with fans and critics alike and she promptly won a Filmfare Award for Best Debut.
