Preity Zinta is on a mission. A thoroughly modern woman in a sometimes antiquated world, she hopes to add her voice to India's feminist revolution. "I see myself as a representative of the 21st century," she says. "I'm not going to do films which project women as relegated to the kitchen or as objects of desire. Our films are the archival material which portray what this century is about and, so, I want to do progressive films."
Although a diligent student, Preity knew from an early age that there was more to life than just academia. And so when her friends encouraged her to model she decided to give it a shot. "I got offers very easily," she recalls. "My first ad was Perk, then came Liril. Both did very well."
